While I don't condone Job Five's emotive comments, nevertheless the position in this case is that the solicitor concerned made false utterances and committed a fraud. Whether or not anything turns upon it ultimately in terms of consequences for the respective clients involved, or there was any loss to any of the parties concerned, is completely irrelevant, and these are simply not issues that need to be pursued in considering the appropriate consequences. There can be no excuse for this sort of conduct which plainly brings the profession into disrepute. While I don't agree with all of the SRA's rulings, this time I'm afraid their decision is unquestionable.
