“Insurers have told the gazette...”

Please can you name them, not least because the comment that follows is manifestly untrue. In negotiations insurers routinely offered a premium on lump sum payments to try to dissuade a Claimant from going to court to get a PPO.

Almost all PPOs reached by negotiation included in the above numbers were by the NHSLA (which prefers annualised payments to lump sums). Insurers would avoid them at all costs, even if it meant paying comparatively more.

If the Gazette is to publish such a ridiculous comment, the least it should do is identify the insurer in question.
