Very good question Anon @ 16.21.

Who is Joe Egan? He doesn't speak for me, or very many other solicitors living and working in this jurisdiction. The Law Society is not a mouth piece for the wider economy and anyway they are wrong - a transition period will hold us back from global trade deals we need to engage in asap to boost our economy.

The Law Society is as wrong as Bogdanor who ignores the fact that the British constitution is set out in historical documents like the Magna Carta, the Bill of Rights, the Act of Succession and so on. Our history is indivisible from our law. Our civil rights and liberties stem from our common law system. We do appear to need better (by which I mean more informed and more loyal to their offices) judges in our court system and spokespeople in our Law Society.
