£900 an hour?!?! And I thought the SRA's costs were excessive...

It perplexes me how any Firm can say they are going to charge rates of that magnitude and seek recovery from the paying party. Its' common sense that the court will have regard to guideline rates, and start hacking where appropriate.

I wonder if unrecoverable costs were going to be sought from the client, and whether, if they knew they were going to be charged £900 an hour, they would have agreed to pay any shortfall where the judge confirms such costs as being 'obviously unsustainable’.
