About costs - running a law firm is about running a business. If you run a business you have overheads. The main overhead is employees. Employees want to be paid and rightly so.

If your business is a about low value RTA claims then you get paid not very much at all so you have to save the money somewhere, hence you employ cheap employees. That does not mean they are not good at what they do but they are cheap. The same standard applies to them as to a 30 year qualified solicitor.

At this point it is worth noting that generally defendant solicitors are paid more than claimant solicitors, and insurer claim handlers are paid more than claimant paralegals. Interesting, no?

Anyway, back to the article - this is how PI will look if HM Insurers have their way. Sobering reading.
