In reply to Anon the Last I have to say that in my experience of housing work housing associations rarely use lawyers for ordinary possession proceedings based on rent arrears. It really is often a case of "Barbara from Accounts" (as Anon so derogatorily says) presenting the association's case to the district judge. I can also say that most DJs will do their utmost to prevent tenants from losing their homes. The idea that there is somehow a non-level playing field for tenants acting in person is very far from the truth.
