Re: Anon @ 9:44
A reprimand ('slap on the wrist') by way of agreed outcome following self-reporting of all of the facts would not have allowed the SRA to claim its £5,000 "bonus" for dragging the solicitors through the Tribunal when there was no risk to clients and no suspicion of money laundering or criminal intent.
Re: Anon @12:21
It looks as though the first of the transactions occurred in 1999 but there may have been more recent ones. The issue I find most disturbing is that these solicitors are respected people in their fields and from the brief facts reported appear to have acted honourably throughout. The stain of an adverse Tribunal finding will not be easy to shake off.
Or are Tribunal fines for trivialities now going to become like traffic offences - tolerated as an occupational hazard whilst obscuring the real misconduct carried out by those who can then brush it off in much the same way?
