From what I know, we accept these for simplicity. We know the cost (these vary from authority to authority. Therefore we can tell the client straight away the cost) and we can order all our searches in one bulk order rather than filling in forms for each separate search.
Am I a fan? Not really, as I dont like relying on another's indemnity. But having had to fill out the forms previous it does save allot of time, which is precious in conveyancing.
