Further to my comments below and thanks for all the up thumbs by the way!

I have been doing this since I left the military in 2001, so much has changed some for the better some very much for the worse.

I used to get my OS1 and K16 over the phone! The phone! and the copies were posted to me! Posted! In the actual mail! Now I do it online in an instant.

I used to order my searches with a hard copy LLC/CON29 and cheque from accounts - now I do it online with the fees debited form our account. I do however feel I have to do extra searches - chancel and enviro and planning which are mostly as much use as mudflaps on a tortoise.

I used to post everything to my client and now I email. However I am plagued by emails and the sender usually expects a reply instantaneously even if I am off sick apparently.

I no longer have to send my TR1 to the HMRC for them to stamp something in the corner (you youngsters - this is the origin of the phrase Stamp duty!). I do all of this on line along with my registration.

However I too am plagued with people obsessing with gas safe certificates for a boiler installed 7 years ago, I find also I am now doing a lot of box ticking to satisfy MLR and Lexcel - file opening risk checklists, due diligence, electronic ID checks, exchange and pre exchange risk checklists, gifts from family members, file closing archive and risk checklists, lawyer checker to make sure that someone hasn't been cloned. And for this I did 29 exams. 29!

However, it is Thursday and the sun is shining in South Devon!
