"Justice ministers say they are convinced that uncontrolled legal costs for claimant representatives have encouraged operators to settle holiday sickness claims out of court. This in turn has emboldened rogue lawyers to bring dishonest claims knowing they are unlikely to be challenged."

If so called "rogue lawyers" are bringing dishonest claims, there is already adequate remedy for that. Paying such "rogue lawyers" less is not it.

As with any claim, if it is fraudulent it should be defended and if the Claimant is found to be the fraudster they should be prosecuted. If their lawyer is a party to the fraud, prosecute them too.

But that's not how this Government / Moj operate. What they prefer to do is listen to whoever makes their case loudest i.e those who lobby the hardest and those who appear (from newspaper headlines) to be the hardest done to and instead of enforcing existing laws to deal with perjury and fraud, introduce a new scheme designed to pay everyone (including the rogues) less !

Credit to the first contributor to this comments section - the mis-selling of plastic bags looks like it has legs to me. I look forward to imminently receiving the cold-call from that credible robot lady who calls me most days. Mustn't grumble though - the Government don't seem to think that cold-calling needs to be outlawed....
