Whilst I don't agree the general thrust of the argument that you advance, anon @ 15:12, your description of those who engaged in:

'writing off the time and minimising the contribution of other fee earners, selfishly hogging work to the detriment of good service to clients, over-recording time, refusing to contribute to non-chargeable activities which won't cover them in glory such as supervision and mentoring, overseeing pro bono work, referring new clients to other departments....'

is precisely that of those - both women and men - who were most successful in slithering up the greasy pole of a large commercial law firm for which I once worked!
