As a former practising ( UK ) solicitor I refer to the " men of affairs " concept promulgated by the late Sir Arthur Hoole ( sc. at the National Conf. held in Bournemouth in Oct. 1984 ) which MUST be taken into consideration, assimilated and implemented in full. The overriding reality is that legal knowledge PER SE is not enough for what a solicitor is expected to know in his clients' view and in general.
The concept states that a solicitor has to be " learned in human nature and the ways of the world " in addition. Most unfortunately
the legal training system does not provide this savoir-faire and the results thereof are clear for all and sundry to behold !!
