James, I disagree. 30 years ago the profession was still, on the whole, respected, wasn't being attacked on a daily basis by a hostile government, media and our own professional body, and we weren't expected to respond to clients within a matter of minutes via email.

The cost of housing has soared compared to the increase in salaries over the last 30 years. And on top of that, graduates now start their professional life with enormous debts courtesy of tuition fees and the exorbitant cost of the LPC.

I take my hat off to these younger lawyers just starting out in their careers.
