Is anybody still surprised by the attitude of this government, which is increasingly indifferent to the legal rights of its citizens?

The UK legal system is in crisis on so many levels.
In a modern democracy, citizens are subject to a blizzard of legislation, and historically solicitors were there to give clients independent legal advice, as members of a regulated profession, which adhered to high ethical standards.

There is nothing wrong in being paid a good fee for acting professionally.

The unwillingness by government to ban cold calling mirrors the unwillingness seen elsewhere, to ignore the suspect arguments put forward by the insurance sector, which tilt the balance against the citizen suffering personal injury.

Claim management companies sometimes corrupt the ethical foundations of the legal process by their dubious practices, and the arguments put forward to justify the status quo are risible.

The Rule of Law is slowly being eroded, by the preferential treatment being given to vested interests.

As in our criminal justice system, which is on the verge of collapse, unless lawyers campaign to educate the public as to what is happening, then we shall be mere passive bystanders, as our justice system continues its decline.
