As I said, I'm a layperson (obviously not 'the average' if I'm reading the Gazette), so I don't know if this is unique but it seems so egregious that I thought the judge would have some power to consult or refer it to a higher authority for consideration. And, given the pro bono work many lawyers do for clients less desperate than these children and their mother, might not a pause have allowed for some conscience-driven lawyer to have stepped in?
When does a job become so unconscionable that you realise you have to get out? I seek no praise for saying I had to face that. My father would have turned in his grave if I hadn't.
