@Anon 18:53 I can only assume you don’t work in the field if you think insurers have a ‘settlement mentality’. The reality is they will dispute anything and everything, only backing down at the last and paying what they should have done months or years before.

This little mentioned factor - extremely poor and protracted case handling - is one of the issues insurers unsurprisingly don’t bring up when talking about the rising cost of claims.
