Lots of upvotes for the first comment on here, so clearly there are many who can't see the difference between:-

a) a witness (on behalf of a party who was ultimately found to have been in the right and not negligent) telling the truth and giving exculpatory evidence that his or her lawyers failed to ensure was in their statement; and

b) a lying claimant giving deliberately false evidence to the court (no doubt egged on by their "lawyers") in the hope of getting more cash than he or she was entitled to, knowing that the Defendant may well settle.
