Anon 22.20 "You get the lowest common denominator if you don’t pay."

this is nonsense. CPS staff are not badly paid. or if they feel they are, they do not therefore deliberately lose sensitive material because of it. the problem, as so frequently, comes down to a severe lack of proper resources. to suggest that CPS lawyers are the lowest common denominator is insulting and wrong. I have been a solicitor in a variety of roles, but working for the CPS was far and away the most challenging and difficult. the organisation is in a mess but it is very easy to criticise from the sidelines without having a clue what they actually do and the pressures they operate under. walk a mile in a CPS lawyer's shoes and then belittle them if you wish
