I am not sure this answers my question. I will put it another way.

If I have a bump in my car and I am barely injured or not injured at all, why would my insurer encourage me to get in touch with their panel solicitors? Admittedly, if I am injured and want to utilise any legal cover I have on my policy I would ask my insurer what I do next and would expect to be passed the details of their panel solicitors.

If you have ever had a RTA you will know that is not how it works. You call up to report the accident and the damage to your vehicle and you are then passed through immediately to a panel solicitor - injury or no injury.

The Haven scenario involves the other party's insurers seeking to settle off the claim when one is initiated. My question is why does my own motor insurer encourage me to claim in the first place?
