Joshua Rozenburg may have a case regarding the Cliff Richard verdict in terms of technicalities, but in every legal ruling it's important to look beyond the letter of the the Law, which often can be cleverly manipulated in order to prove that right is wrong, to the motive and integrity of those who initiated the investigation. The motive of the BBC was clearly to create a sensational story and sacrifice on the alter of supposed public interest , integrity . principle and justice. Cliff Richard's victory is very much in the public interest and in the interest of the media, because it restricts the media to only reporting issues which have substance behind them. This case will make News outlets think twice about reporting issues with little substance behind them and will actually benefit them in the long term by strengthening public trust in the integrity of what they report.
