I was fortunate enough to study at Oxford from 1977 to 1980. It was very clear to me from direct experience that admissions were on merit. In the law faculty at that time ( and in my own college ) there were numerous students both undergraduate and post graduate who were from various minority ethnic backgrounds . I knew well a Jamaican post graduate student. There were also two middle eastern undergraduates who both did exceptionally well and both of whom went on to stellar careers at the bar ( both took silk several years ago ). There were several others I did not know personally but saw around the faculty on a frequent basis.
I suspect this latest outburst is nothing more than those with a particular cause seeking to pursue it through attention grabbing headlines.
