Well, it seems my original comment has been removed by the Gazette. Congratulations on the excellent censorship of a potentially unpopular view.

We know Mr Lammy is a fan of introducing quotas. All quotas risk discarding good candidates in favour of those who exhibit a particular characteristic - whether this be in favour of females, BAME, LGBT, disadvantaged background.

Why can we not express the view that nobody should be discriminated against? Positive discrimination is still discrimination and should be opposed.

By all means, take into account background and access to Oxbridge courses - if some areas of society are in a worse position, then level the playing field. Don't simply look at statistics and spin them.
