This is gutter journalism from the Gazette. The headline reads that barristers ‘blame’ solicitors. This wasn’t the question asked. The question was whether solicitors were doing less than previously, not whether they were to blame for it.

As the comment above makes clear, solicitors are not funded to prep counsel as they did. This is fact. The barristers were asked to comment on this fact. The assignment of blame seems to come from Max Walters using clickbait to stir up an argument between two parts of the profession. The Gazette should really be rising above this.
