Interesting facets of argument in the two comments below.

True that Barristers are over optimistic on fees early on. Is an Oxbridge / Redbrick First or Upper Second Class 'Graduate', (equivalent to a Second or Third thirty years ago), really 'entitled' to get paid the same as a Surgeon per day (and/or their 'Clerk' (the latter in the sense not of being admin qualified but merely qualified in brass neck)).?

Really?

True though as the last comment says that the reality is that as the profession has never stood together markedly on 'Franchising' Legal Aid nor (De)Mutalisation of Insurance, the ease with which a wedge can be driven is not difficult to see.
