I agree completely with Anon at 12:39 below.

This is only a story because of the behaviour of the Judge. This behaviour by the judge is outrageous and inexcusable. No -none should be allowed to behave in this way, especially the Judge. It does indeed bring the courts and judiciary into disrepute.

This is not 'going a little over the top' it is bullying, oppressive and childish behaviour that is unbefitting of judicial office and should be called out as such. It is bad enough that a judge behaves in this way, but for the higher courts to effectively sanction the behaviour by suggesting it is so trivial as to be little bit over the top, is even worse.

As anon at 12:39 says, judges don't think twice about reporting solicitors or counsel to their professional bodies, but won't, perhaps can't and certainty don't make a referral to JCIO about judges.

There has been many reports recently in the legal press about judicial bullying. This is clear example and shows that nothing has changed and judges can feel free to behave as they wish with no chance of any action being taken against them.

I hope that those involved do make a complaint to the JCIO, however I suspect that until things change, nothing will be done.
