Give a dog a bone?

Do the math. £4.5 million divided between one hundred sets of chambers each with twenty junior barristers covering essential trials in the criminal courts. For junior barristers the apportioned sum might be just about equal to the sum required to cover one return journey to a provincial court per week. What does it mean in terms of having travel to court five times a week for a year? What does this proposed funding message really say about proper provision for professional representation in the criminal courts?

The gearing of the larger provision may afford a little extra comfort to more senior counsel in beefier cases of greater girth and waddage, but I suspect will still be marginal at best.
