"Knowing the NHS contributions you and everybody else you know make (or at least make) can potentially go to the line the pockets of the CEO of you firm, whilst most front line NHS staff are paid minimum wage because they have a GENUINE desire to be of worth to society "

Anon at 9.29 - how do you propose that individuals harmed by the NHS as a result of negligence should be treated? Do you think (as you appear to be arguing) that they should suffer 'for the greater good'? What about their welfare?

I think that there is certainly room for improvement - for more minor issues many people want an explanation and some assurance the incident won't be repeated, not money. For those who suffer more serious, life changing injuries it is right that they should be compensated, just as they should if they were injured by any other kind of negligence.

Out of interest, would you extend your arguments to say that solicitors who are working on legal aid cases should be immune for being sued for negligence?
They are , after all, providing a public service as well.
