These orders are made at the drop of a hat in court and imposed on people who for emotional and behavioural issues are likely to breach them. They are usually made to protect people who are just as bad and often invite the recipient of the order back to do whatever the order is trying to prevent. Suspended sentences are handed out lavishly to all manner of recidivists who breach them almost as soon as they have left the court building. I read that the prison population "may increase"?
