There was a time (when I was admitted many years ago), that a person wanting to become a solicitor had to be of good charater and prove he/she was of good character. Now hardly a week passes without yet another solicitor or firm of solicitors being shown to be dishonest.
Does the Law Society and/or The Solicitors Regulation Authority no longer carry out any checks? If so is it not time they passed on the job to someone who is competent?
