George, it would be nice if that could be done. But I imagine Andrew Davies was of "good character" when he was admitted. Indeed I presume the Law Society still do a CRO check. This sort of dishonesty lies dormant and potential. When the occasion arises, or when things get a little difficult, then it blossoms if that's the right word.
From an earlier post yes it's "pointless" in the sense that it's bound to get uncovered eventually. But greed and/or desperation have long since kicked in and quite possibly the mistaken view that it's merely "borrowing" and therefore neither illegal nor immoral.
There's a psychology to this sort of behaviour and no doubt there are articles about it. Our profession has access to unusually large sums of money, and at first it's not that difficult to help yourself to a bit.
That's the reality of it.
