The firm's eponymous owner sadly passed away in 2012. He was a real gentleman (former RAF Pilot) and a highly respected lawyer of over 40 years’ experience. It is a shame that the firm's name has been dragged through this entire debacle and, by association, its former employees. I can't help but think this would have all started with a white lie (perhaps even believing he was doing the right thing in the beginning by keeping a client in blissful ignorance for a few more days) and it escalated from there after taking over the firm unexpectedly at 28 years of age. He was clearly in over his head and suddenly it was too late to refrain. Whilst the extent (and gravity) of the dishonesty is inexcusable, on a more general note it is perhaps a cautionary tale that it is not always good to move up the ranks rapidly to senior partner level so soon after being admitted to the roll.
