Prodigious quantity of Anons on this thread. What have they got to hide? For my part I agree with Owen Saunders who posted some way back that for once the House of Lords had made a sensible decision. "The noodles have had a lucid interval!" To judge from the article itself there seems to be a respectable body of professional opinion both for and against the proposals, from which I infer that there's no major ethical or political principle at stake. The more virulent reader comments, however, appear to be based on party faction. If you're violently anti, the chances are you are also violently anti-Tory - and perhaps vice versa.
