In a recent Gazette article (11 June) Jonathan Goldsmith observed that the general decline in the demands for high professional standards was damaging the profession in the context of our potential future ability to export legal services. The increasing vagueness in our regulatory regime appears to make and does make the reliability of our services more and more uncertain. This is not only for foreign potential clients (and the whole world will soon be foreign to us) but to domestic clients generally. What is so wrong with our regulators?
