Best wishes to Mr Tennant on his new role. One thing he could usefully do would be to explain what benefit the Law Society is to its members. After 24 years in practice, during which time my perception is that I've been forced to be a member in order to remain in practice, I remain at a loss to understand why I have to be a member of the Law Society at all, or how I'd be any worse off at all if the Law Society didn't exist. The SRA seems to perform most of the regulatory roles - and those it doesn't, it could do.
