Honest question, Frank (and I realise I'm asking somebody on the comments section of the Law Society Gazette). Why can't you have something along the lines of a terms of business saying:

"I acknowledge that any and all services will be provided by Mr X in his capacity as a solicitor of Cheap Law Ltd. I understand that no services will be provided by Mr X personally (i.e. as an individual solicitor not part of a firm of solicitors). I will not make any claim against Mr X personally. If despite the previous sentence I do, I acknowledge that my claim will be limited to one of Crispin Passmore's shirts."
