Jeffrey Shaw @ 11:55 today - possibly, but - rather like the lease/licence question - surely it's a question of fact in each case; true "gig" economy work may be just that but if the worker is effectively tied to the company and cannot offer their services anywhere else then it probably is employment? "Gig" employers have clearly followed the example of privatisation and PFI beloved of governments of all hues in recent years - getting liabilities (such as NI, pension contributions and holiday and sick pay) off the balance sheet and making the companies appear more profitable.
