Email is definitely a mixed blessing in today's world. I remember hearing of a firm (not necessarily a legal one) that as part of its 'Out of Office' email reply said that all emails sent while someone was off would be deleted without being read and the sender was specifically requested to resend if it was important when the respondent returned to work.

Thus you could come back to work from time off to no emails!!!
