To suggest that email is a mixed blessing is not correct. Email has absolutely revolutionised the way people communicate in the last 20 years. People can communicate instantaneously anywhere in the world. That some people abuse the privilege is not to derogate from email. Email does away with all the lost Royal Mail mail which is endemic in this country. Email addresses are longer lasting than residential addresses. Email saves huge amounts of trees. Of course sending a signed card / letter is still a great way to communicate.
