'Under section 28 of the Legal Services Act 2007 the SRA is required to be 'transparent, accountable, proportionate, consistent'.'

If that's the case then the SRA fails on all four counts. Its policy making - now undertaken in camera - is evidence of its opacity. If it's accountable, then it is only unto itself. That it consistently fails to act proportionately is evidenced by the differential treatment of ABSs/large 'city' law firms and small 'high street' solicitors' practices. And as for failing to be consistent in the discharge of its duties, need I say more than res ipsa loquitur?
