When I was a young Legal Aid lawyer it was a struggle. When I was a middle-aged Legal Aid Lawyer it was even more of a struggle. I am now an old legal aid lawyer and I continue to struggle. But if I had been offered some form of Love Island experience when I was starting my career (such TV programmes did not exist then), i would have laughed in their face. When I was an Articled Clerk my principle explained to me that the number one requirement of being a good solicitor was Judgement. Nothing else mattered. Clients relied on your Judgement and although I have never watched the programme, I believe that appearing on such a programme might be regarded as a lack of Judgement. I may be wrong about this. The young lady in question will probably go on to make a huge success of herself, but, speaking for myself I like being a boring, struggling Legal Aid Lawyer.
