I agree with Mr Platt-Higgins.

If you sign to certify the Bill as being accurate and it isn't because you didn't check it properly, you've only got yourself to blame. No doubt the solicitor in this case would have been more than happy to pocket the cash if the Bill had gone through unchallenged.

I seem to recall some case law on this issue from years ago, Smith v Marks & Spencer?
