I wholeheartedly agree with the author's views on the dangers of time recording targets which many firms - no matter how modern they believe themselves to be - continue to adopt. Not only do such targets cause unnecessary additional pressure in what is already a well-renowned stressful career, but they are wholly ineffective. Those who bring to their firm's a professional team-driven attitude already strive to work hard for their clients and their firm, meaning they are likely to meet or exceed a reasonable number of chargeable hours each day simply as a result of their own commitment. Those without this attitude are, in my experience, unfazed by time recording targets and feel no more or less pressure to deliver regardless of their firm's expectations. It therefore follows that the enforcement of such targets increases the stresses of the most hardworking employees, meaning that the legal profession in turn ends up losing some of its best minds. It sounds to me that TandonHildebrand has adopted a well thought out and healthy approach to providing legal services, which I hope to see more firms following.
