Barclays also joins the panel farce then!! We all know the whole conveyancing panel thing is just a load of old nonsense and has absolutely nothing at all to do with security, honesty or legal ability as the lenders and their insurers claim. There is an agenda here to change the legal landscape and be rid of small firms - probably the government are actually the original driving force behind it all. The Law Society does nothing and the SRA is pushing ABSs. I suspect they are really all just government puppets!

When I started my independent legal life 40 odd years ago with very little legal or conveyancing experience, lenders were bending over backwards to put me on their panels! How times have changed. No claims in 40 years, no problems and 40 yrs experience later we are no longer acceptable for most mortgage panels for various nonsensical reasons but basically because we remain a small firm with a loyal family based clientele. Most of our clients I know by their first names. They and their families have been clients for years. What utter nonsense is this lender panel fiasco. I guarantee that our security and conveyancing experience is far more robust than the factory type organisations the lenders now tend to employ by way of separate representation.
