I think that I would use slightly stronger words than 'delighted'. I also wonder how it was ever envisaged let alone execution of the closure came so far down the road.

Chichester is a Cathedral City, the only City in West Sussex and that County's County-Town. Not only was it settled from Roman times as we know, it would have had its own Wapentake or Hundred Court from Anglo-Saxon times and I just wonder how a Learned Profession or literate or intellectual society and local community ever went with this?

Can anyone tell me what the Law Society and Bar Council were doing whilst these 'reforms' were being pencilled in?

I do wonder.
