I’m tired of saying it but the judiciary and JAC is run by privately educated barristers for privately educated barristers. It is a myth that these people have such unique skills. Solicitors are also very capable of doing this work. They are not given a fair chance. They do apply and get rejected despite all the patronising outreach events supposedly to encourage them. There is no excuse for vacancies. Just lower the bar and try some solicitors for a change. You may find that more diversity makes for a better justice system.
