"...The assessment process from our perspective is really quite straight forward and in our local court will be done as a paper exercise at very modest overall cost; things only get more complex when defendants either misunderstand the procedure, or become deliberately evasive.

The best way of "killing all this nonsense off" would be for people to understand the rules, to charge reasonably having regard to those rules and then be entirely open to what they have charged being scrutinised in accordance with the rules. ..."

Just as matter of interest, what do you consider to be straightforward?

Who pays your firm, does it pay for all the disclosure required, and does it take any uplift or does it take a percentage of 'costs' 'saved'.

I am not a PI Lawyer or a lawyer that charges according to percentages or uplifts, but I am intrigued so I can understand what part you play (are you Costs 'Lawyers' presumably?).
