I suspect that until you have actually done the job, you have no idea what it entails. In my view the facts / law combination that one has to get right is present at the very lowest levels of judicial decision making. That begs the question why are solicitors ok to be DJ's and part CJ's but effectively nothing higher? Do counsel have the monopoly of brains and problem solving. I don't think so. Other writers are correct. We need the equivalent of a staff college. How many cases get screwed up because of the way judges are recruited and trained now ?
