Anon 10.59 makes an interesting point.

My impression is that those brought before other disciplinary tribunals are represented - if they wish it - via their trade unions aka professional bodies - NUT, BMA etc. That doesn't happen with solicitors, who must bet the house or insure(?) to meet their costs.

This is troubling in the context of what is quoted from the report. Would, for example, insurance - if it exists - cover a solicitor's involvement in the investigation process preceding a "police station interview"?
