Very shrewd comment Michael.

I do wonder how as the principle of open justice has been slowly and slowly curtailed (Geoffrey Robertsons two books Freedom the Individual and the Law and Media Law is good on the history and ramifications of this), whether we can attribute the correlation of trolling and derogatory comments on line to it (lack of / loss of opportunity for, investigative journalism one one hand and aggressive and aggrieved public on the other).

The other thing is of course, you know that small matter of the EU Referendum two years ago? I wonder how much of that swing to 'leave' was attributable to a visceral hatred of politicians and their SW1 accoutrements/ baggage (NGO's SPAD's etc).

I suspect this had some part to play and the question must arise, particularly after Richards inroads into press freedom, how to hold them accountable as well?
