Listen up youngsters, we oldsters fought hard to preserve our great profession. We made it what it is today. In the 1960s our fathers and mothers made fortunes and were able to invest money in all sorts of enterprises. Solicitors were well known for their wealth. Of course, you youngsters don't want an easy life, so just be glad that this cornucopia of wealth was lost in our generation. Just be happy we failed to stand up to successive governments who took away our privileges and perks and left us working hard for so little. Just be grateful that you youngsters are given a traineeship at all after years as a paralegal. Be happy you have are paid and look forward to renting all your life and living on a good (average) salary until you are phased out by artificial intelligence in your 40s. Never forget that we had it much tougher than you with our minimum trainee wage, traineeships which did not involve fee earning and almost always, a job at the end of our training contract. Never forget how we suffered, you snowflakes. We didn't have namby pamby HR departments helping us get jobs when we were sacked. We got on our bikes and looked for work or else asked Daddy to put in a good word with Uncle Bob or Auntie June, so we could go and work at the family firm. You snowflakes don't know you are born.
